ISO 26000

Social Responsibility has come a long way from organisations making some charitable donations at the end of the year. These philanthropic endeavours remain extremely important and commendable but are only one element in the much wider sphere of activity covered by Social Responsibility today.

The International Standards Organisation recognised the need for guidance in this area and in November 2010 published a new standard, ISO 26000: Guidance on Social Responsibility. The standard provides guidance on core SR subjects like organizational governance, human rights, labour practices, the environment, fair operating practices, consumer issues, community involvement and development.

Kinelea helped in the development of ISO26000 as a member of the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) Multi-Stakeholder Working Group. We provide guidance and training to organisations intending to adopt the internationally recognised principles and practices recommended in the standard.
